From Gallop To Graze: Sheep-shifting Horse

sheep
Horse trots out and Sheep wanders in.  From galloping around, to strolling through life supremely at leisure.  In the Chinese Zodiac Sheep and Goat are synonymous.  Both are acceptable sacrifice to Kali.  Both are welcome at the tables of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and most Hindus.
Where I grew up, goats carried their tails high and sheep wore them low.  Otherwise they looked similar.  But they didn’t act the same.  From where I worked I could look across the arid red landscape of the Kamba tribal lands.  There goats had brutally browsed, ripping out roots that held earth in place, leaving it barren: when the rains came the earth was washed away.  From where I lived, looking the other way, lay the fresh green pastures of the Highlands, where sheep neatly nibbled, teeth cutting the tops of the grass, leaving roots to bind the earth.
In another world, Sheep is Lamb of God, flocks of the faithful tended by the Good Shepherd.  But here comes Cousin Goat, cloven-hoofed and horny!  At home my parents would call each other ‘my pet lamb.’  I did once hear them refer to a neighbor as ‘that old goat.’  ‘One day you will understand,’ they told me.  Well, yes, I guess I do, now.

So what are the signs for this Chinese New Year?  The Sheep is among the animals that people like most. It is gentle and calm. Since ancient times, people have used its fleece to make writing brushes and wool to keep warm. By using the skin of one animal to make parchment for their scriptures, the shamans were able to offer their prayers without daily animal sacrifice.  As the calming spirit of the Sheep year spreads, sentiments will be kindled and wisdom will prevail. Many will look into their hearts and souls, wonder at past passionate grievances, and realize the road to harmony is through peaceful ways. Sheep relates to passive and nurturing times, and can help the healing process with regard to past events. Sheep is Healing, Sheep is Love.

We savour the Healing Power of Sheep at this year’s Taoist Shamanic Healing while celebrating  Chinese New Year.  If you’d like to find out more come on by our Free Talk this Thursday 12th.

Good News for Healing NLP – NLP started as healing therapy and was found so effective that the business and sales people hijacked it.  Truth is, it works really well for whatever you want to use it for.  I started because Healing Tao and Shiatsu students said I was already using it, so I thought I’d better find out more.  I did, and went on to become one of the few Society of NLP Trainers in UK licensed by Richard Bandler himself, the original co-creator, and Paul McKenna.
I run just two courses a year, one to certify Practitioners, the other for Master-Practitioners.  I thoroughly recomend them to anyone who wants to become not just a better communicator (however good you are already!) but to really understand what your clients, students, partners, parents, children, friends, colleagues, employers, employees,  mean by their body- and verbal language.
